Les histoires d’origine rejouent des mythes familiers ; celle-ci commence avec un enfant seul dans sa chambre, essayant de créer quelque chose que personne n’a jamais entendu auparavant. Originaire de San Francisco, l’artiste américano-philippine April Harper Grey a commencé à faire de la musique sous le nom d’underscores au collège. Après des années à bricoler sur GarageBand, elle a fini par réaliser que, si elle prenait cette envie « d’être comme Skrillex » au sérieux, cela pourrait réellement mener à quelque chose de grand. Pendant des années, underscores a sorti une série de morceaux uniques sur SoundCloud, ce qui lui a permis de se rapprocher d’artistes partageant la même vision et de se constituer une communauté grandissante de fans. Mais ce n’est qu’en 2017, avec la sortie de son EP skin purifying treatment, que le projet a quitté son isolement et a commencé à attirer un public bien plus large. En 2021, underscores a sorti son premier album, fishmonger, écrit et enregistré dans cette même chambre d’enfance en pleine pandémie de COVID-19. Ce projet a propulsé underscores du simple enregistrement de voix dans une voiture à l’ouverture des concerts de 100 Gecs sur la partie américaine de la tournée 10,000 Gecs. Avant de partir sur les routes, underscores a publié un autre projet, boneyard aka fearmonger, une collection de sept morceaux qui évoquent à la fois l’apogée et le lendemain de la nuit la plus folle de votre vie. Dans la foulée de 10,000 Gecs, sa première mini-tournée a affiché complet à New York, Los Angeles, Chicago et dans sa ville natale de San Francisco. Depuis, underscores s’est produit sur la scène principale de Lollapalooza, à Electric Forest, FVDED in the Park et Corona Capital CDMX, avec des concerts prévus au festival Ceremonia CDMX en mars et au Governors Ball en juin 2024. Indépendante depuis ses débuts, underscores a signé l’an dernier chez Mom+Pop et a sorti son dernier projet acclamé, Wallsocket. Cet album narratif de 12 titres explore la vie des habitants de la ville fictive de Wallsocket, dans le Michigan. Autour de cette sortie, elle a plongé ses fans dans un jeu en réalité alternée (ARG), avec divers sites web débloquant des morceaux inédits et des cadeaux exclusifs. L’objectif de l’album était de secouer les auditeurs de leur torpeur, et il y est parvenu. Après tout, c’est là l’essence d’underscores : « Quand les gens écoutent underscores, je veux que leur première réaction soit : “C’est n’importe quoi.” Mais plus ils écoutent, plus ils doivent en percevoir les nuances, la profondeur, et j’espère qu’ils s’y connecteront émotionnellement. Le but ultime est de les déstabiliser, puis de les reconquérir. »

Depuis qu’ils ont créé leur premier morceau dans un studio installé dans un bunker de la Seconde Guerre mondiale à Hambourg, il y a 19 ans, Digitalism n’a pas perdu les éléments essentiels de sa démarche musicale. Un esprit DIY, une énergie spontanée et une faible tolérance à l’ennui forment la recette du duo fondé par Jens Moelle et Ismail Tüfekçi, qui visent à capturer l’air du temps. Du premier EP explosif « Idealistic » (2005), où les riffs de synthés compressés répondent aux voix plaintives de Moelle, à « Idealism », à leur premier album deux ans plus tard, qui les a propulsés au sommet de l’électro-house, jusqu’à leur hommage de 2023 à leurs racines avec l’EP « Back To Haus », Digitalism n’a jamais cessé d’avancer. Infinity Song est un groupe de soft rock basé à New York, composé de quatre frères et sœurs, Abraham, Angel, Israel et Momo Boyd. Avec un mélange d’harmonies vocales serrées, de paroles rêveuses et de riffs de guitare sublimes, le groupe crée une expérience transcendante pour le public à chaque concert et dans leurs enregistrements. Avec leurs cinq autres frères et sœurs, ils ont reçu une éducation scolaire et musicale à domicile par des parents qui ont fondé les Boys & Girls Choirs of Detroit, et se produisent devant un public depuis la maternelle. Ils ont été élevés dans le classique, le gospel et le jazz, avec des artistes comme Pat Metheny, Marvin Gaye, The Winans Family et bien d’autres. En 2016, le groupe a été signé chez Roc Nation par Jay-Z, qui leur a conseillé de ne pas se conformer à la culture artistique du label, mais plutôt de laisser la culture artistique de Roc Nation les rattraper. 4 ans plus tard, en 2020, la fratrie fait parler d’elle avec son premier album « Mad Love » et plusieurs vidéos virales qui accumulent des millions de vues sur tous les réseaux sociaux, attirant l’attention et le soutien de certains des plus grands noms d’Hollywood. Supported by documents and exceptional archives, this exhibition traces the life and work of the legendary couple Ilse and Nicolas Alfonso, both on stage and in real life. Virtuoso guitarists, they performed to great acclaim in the top international venues and recorded numerous solo and duo albums. Both professors with renowned reputations, they opened the first guitar classes in the Belgian Music Academies and in 1965, supported by H.M. Queen Elizabeth of Belgium, inaugurated the guitar class at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, thus becoming the de facto founders of the Belgian Guitar School.

The only one of its kind, « the Brussels guitar fiesta » attracts a large crowd and over the years has established itself as one of the major festivals in Europe. The splendid Hay Doun Cultural Center and the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles will host concerts, master classes, a lecture, an exhibition as well as the public final rounds of the national competition, the international competition and the composition competition. Classical, jazzy, Spanish, Latin American, modern music… The many facets of the world's most played instrument will be showcased thanks to a rich and varied programme : solo guitar, duo, ensemble, guitar with orchestra, accordion, violin, flute, percussion… Always seeking new experiences, the festival offers the public the chance to attend several Belgian premieres and listen to big names in guitar music from various countries (Belgium, Spain, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, China…) as well as young artists on the verge of a promising career, for whom the festival serves as a launch pad. The 2026 selection, via a new exhibition, pays tribute to the Masters Ilse & Nicolas Alfonso, who opened the first guitar classes in the Belgian Music Academies as well as the guitar class at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in 1965, thereby becoming the founders of the Belgian Guitar School.
